Joplin man charged with DWI, four other felonies following accident

A Joplin man was cited for driving while intoxicated and seven other charges following a one-vehicle accident Wednesday night on Iris Road, seven miles south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, David Garcia, 29, Joplin, ran off the road and plowed into several trees. injuring himself and a passenger, Brittany N. Rawlins, 23, Joplin.

In addition to DWI, Garcia was charged with felony tampering in the first degree, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony distributing a controlled substance, felony assault, driving while revoked, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, and no seat belt.
