Joplin Schools will host its annual Kindergarten Round Up March 21 through April 1. Parents can register their children at Joplin Schools Welcome Center, located at Memorial Education Center, 310 W. Eighth St., weekdays 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Thursdays noon-7 p.m. The Welcome Center will be closed March 25. Children must be at least 5 years old by Aug. 1 to be eligible for kindergarten enrollment. Parents can save time during the registration process by pre-registering online at www.joplinschools.org/kindergartenroundup and by scheduling a registration appointment by calling 417-625-5225.
Parents will need to bring the following items to kindergarten registration to complete the registration process:
Current immunization record
State birth certificate or some other legal document with date of birth
Proof of residency
Proof of guardianship (if applicable)
Child's Social Security card (optional)
Joplin Schools requires all children entering kindergarten to be screened in areas including vision, hearing, speech, motor skills and general school readiness skills. Joplin Schools Parents as Teachers provides these free screenings. Parents can schedule their screening during kindergarten registration or by calling the PAT office at 417-625-5200, Ext. 211.
