Minutes provided for March East Newton Board meeting

As part of the continued efforts in keeping the patrons informed, the East Newton R-VI Schools administration will provide monthly information concerning Board of Education meetings.

A recap of the March, 2016 regular meetings is as follows:

Recognitions: Patriot Pride Award – Isaac Lambeth, student at Triway; Kevin Mouser high school teacher for the district.

Public Comments: None

The Board approved the Consent Agenda, including the previous month Board minute and monthly bills, Substitute teacher list.

Program Evaluations: Technology Program.

Reports:

Legislative Shadowing – Kendra Kennedy and Taylor Mathis

Financial Report, Enrollment

Enrollment & Attendance for the end of January. Enrollment was 1,355 K-12, down fifteen students from February. Triway campus with 382, Granby campus with 520, and the High School with 453. Overall attendance percentage was 93.6

Under Old Business, Nothing

In respect to New Business, the Board approved the application for summer school. Summer school will run from May 23 to June 17 for a total of 19 days. In final Board action, the Board approved a one-year contract for summer school with Catapult Learning. Catapult will focus on K-8 summer school.

The Board then went into Executive Session pursuant to RSMo. 610.021: Paragraph 3 Employees

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday April 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Central Office. The reorganizational meeting will begin at 6:40 pm.
