Four injured, including Carterville man, in three-vehicle accident near Arkansas state line

Four people were injured in a three-vehicle accident 9:25 a.m. today on U. S. 71, a half mile north of the Arkansas state line.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by Cory D. Alexander, 29, Carterville, began sliding, struck a 2000 Honda Odyssey driven by Juan C. Hernandez-Macias, 26, Fayetteville, Arkansas, causing the Hernandez-Macias vehicle to strike a 2013 GMC Acadia driven by James M. Charlton, 44, Harrisonville, in the rear.

Alexander and Charlton were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. Hernandez-Macias and a passenger in his vehicle, Frederico Deras, 48, Fayetteville, were treated at Kara's Urgent Care, Lowell, Arkansas. Hernandez-Macias suffered minor injuries. No information was available about Deras' injuries.
