Carl Junction Police posts warning about leaving guns in cars

(From the Carl Junction Police Department)

I don't know how many times I have posted warning about thefts from cars, but I want to post another one.

For those of you who wish to carry a weapon in your car for your personal protection, (I do support your right to do so.), please take it out of your car at night.

There have been a rash of thefts in the region where weapons are stolen from cars. Some of these were from locked vehicles. The only thing keeping a thief from your car is a 3 1/6 piece of glass which is easy to break,

I would suggest that if you are going to carry a weapon in your car, that you invest in a secure safe made for vehicle carry. They are available online and at a cost of a couple hundred dollars or less you can secure the weapon when you are out and about during the day.

Again, take the weapon in at night, it can not protect you if you are not in possession of it. Also you can use the camera on our phone to take pictures of the weapon and the serial number so we might possibly have a chance to return it to you in the event you become a victim
