Eleven students have been accepted into the Fall 2016 Super Leader program at Missouri Southern State University.
Now in its fifth year, Super Leaders is a joint effort between Missouri Southern and the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Network to identify, cultivate and motivate future community leaders currently enrolled in college. Students must apply and complete an interview to be considered.
Fall 2016 participants are:
Jordan Blythe: junior, health sciences major, Grove, Okla.
Samantha Eighmy: sophomore, accounting major, Bartlesville, Okla.
Tyler Elsten: junior, health sciences major, Carl Junction, Mo.
Ashton Gibson: junior, human resources major, Mount Vernon, Mo.
Zack Keckler: senior, business management major, Aurora, Mo.
Brittany Minear: junior, nursing major, Granby, Mo.
Ashley Nicholson: sophomore, psychology major, Joplin, Mo.
Kuta Suso: senior, biology: pre-med major, The Gambia
Chee Yang: post-graduate, biology major, Wheaton, Mo.
Hope Yarick: sophomore, finance major, Hume, Mo.
Hae Chan Yoon: senior, marketing major, South Korea
“The Fall 2016 group is made up of a variety of majors, backgrounds and ages,” said Alex Gandy, director of Career Services. “They are all very energetic and eager to learn about the Joplin community as they build their leadership skills.”
Participants will complete eight sessions that explore topics such as small business and economic development, non-profits, science and technology, manufacturing and international business, healthcare, and marketing, media and advertising.
All students receive a one-year complimentary membership to the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Network (YPN). Participants also have the option to be matched with a mentor after program completion. Students and mentors meet monthly and attend YPN events together.
