The Children’s Department of Joplin Public Library will be holding a Pumpkin Decorating contest this year. Rules are listed below, and, "May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor!"
- Any age may enter.
- There will be three age groups: Children (0-5th grade) Teen (6th grade through High School) and Adult (everything else).
- Ribbons will be awarded for Scariest, Funniest, and Most Unusual in each of three age groups.
- All pumpkins will be voted on for the Best of Show, with one pumpkin receiving the winning ribbon.
- Pumpkins MUST be literary-themed!
- Pumpkins MUST NOT be real! “They can be plastic, paper, wood or anything that's non-organic so it doesn't rot on the Library’s counter during the display period,” said Tammie Benham, contest organizer and Children’s Librarian.
