Jasper County Sheriff: Do not fall for this scam

(From the Jasper County Sheriff's Office)

We received a call from a citizen today reporting someone called claiming to be a Jasper County Sheriff's Deputy, and that they had an active warrant. The caller told them they needed to get $1500 dollars in Green Dot Cards, and give them the numbers on the cards to get the warrants deactivated.

This is a phone scam. We absolutely do not call you asking for money for a warrant. We don't call you when you have a warrant; we will pay you a personal visit. We do not collect any money either.

This is a common tactic of phone scammers. No matter what the call is, if they are asking you to go get Green Dot Cards, or some other form of money card, it is most likely a SCAM. Do not fall for it.
