Carthage man arrested after holding ex-girlfriend and her brother at gunpoint

On 03/20/2017 the victim, Richard McCarty, reported that James Erick Hooper (07/11/1990 M W) pulled a handgun and pointed it at him, threatening to shoot Richard and his sister (Hooper’s ex-girlfriend). 

The handgun was recovered in James’ apartment 210 Lincoln St. Apt. 5 Carthage, MO. 

James Erick Hooper was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault 1st degree, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. James is a convicted felon and currently on probation with Missouri Probation and Parole for two cases out of Barry County, Missouri.

A warrant was issued, Jasper County case number 17AO-CR00340, for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, with a $100,000 cash or surety bond. James was being held in the Jasper County Jail.
