(From Crowder College)
NEOSHO, MO - Crowder College 48th Aggie Day will be hosted on March 23, 2017 at the Neosho campus. Over 2,000 high school FFA students, advisors and volunteers will be in attendance. The students will compete in nineteen different contests, ranging from Livestock Evaluation to Horticulture to Poultry Evaluation. Being one of the biggest agricultural competitions in the four-state area, Aggie Day attracts students from all corners of Missouri as well as students from Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.
On March 2nd, students competed in speaking contests such as prepared speech, sales contest, and job interviews. This competition was two days before their district contest, providing a final practice session for all contestants.
Crowder College Agriculture Department joins together with the community who show support through donations for awards along with volunteering their time and expertise to manage the contests. With this support the annual contest is a huge success. Although the community gives a hand in the competition, many of the volunteers are students in the Agriculture Department. Aggie Day is a benchmark for the high school FFA students preparing for competitions at the District and State Level. For many teams, it gauges how well they are doing compared to their competition.
The high scoring senior in each contest is awarded a $600 merit scholarship to be used if they choose to attend Crowder.
