Five people injured in three-vehicle chain reaction accident on Gateway Drive

Five people were injured in a three-vehicle chain reaction accident 4:35 p.m. Friday on Gateway Drive, four miles south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Kristen O. Tyler, 21, Neosho, started sliding on the wet roadway and struck a 2012 Smart for Two driven by Margaret E. Wunderlin, 61, Joplin, in the rear, causing the Wunderlin vehicle to cross the center line and hit a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Roger A. Cornell, 49, Rogers, Arkansas.

Tyler, Wunderlin, and two passengers in the Tyler vehicle, Jessica R. Johnson, 25, Neosho, and Charlee J. Johnson, 24, Neosho, were treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Cornell was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West.
