Goodman man arrested for DWI, endangering the welfare of a child after three injured in I-44 crash

A Goodman man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 6:05 p.m. Thursday on I-44 eastbound, three miles east of Fidelity.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1995 Toyota Corolla driven by Robert D. Hammon, 50, Goodman, traveled off the left side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, traveled off the left side of the roadway a second time and struck a guard rail.

Hammon and a passenger, Martha A. Strong, 55, Neosho, were treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

Another passenger, Malinda K. Middleton, 23, Indianapolis, Indiana, was treated for minor injuries at Mercy.

Hammon was also cited for endangering the welfare of a child, careless and imprudent driving and for not having any insurance.
