JFD responds to house fire at 1430 East Central

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1430 East Central, on Sunday, 12 November, at 11:50 PM. The first crew arrived at 11:54 PM. 

On arrival fire personnel found a single-story residence with smoke showing from the eaves and flames venting from a back door. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, with smoke and flame damage throughout the house. Crews remained on scene until 2:37 AM, Monday.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting crews. The homeowner, Steven Smith, was not home at the time of the fire and the house was otherwise unoccupied.

The Fire Department responded with six apparatus and 18 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
