Joplin Police Department arrests Arizona man for stealing Duquesne vehicle

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

This morning at 3:38 a.m. one of our officers stopped at Casey's at 7th and Schifferdecker and was inside the store.

He saw another vehicle park close to his police car, and the passenger came inside. He noticed the passenger was acting odd and wouldn't look at him when they passed. He saw the driver was still in the car.

He ran the plate on the car and found it to be a stolen vehicle, stolen from Duquesne. He positioned his police car behind the the stolen car and arrested the 37-year-old from Arizona for felony tampering with a motor vehicle.

(In the driver's defense, it wasn't a fully marked police car. It was an unmarked crown vic with JPD license plates, visible LED lights and antennas, along with a spotlight...all the indications of a police car without the big words "POLICE" on it)
