On 12-13-2017, the Barton County Sheriff's Office received information from the Pittsburg Kansas Police Department about a possible location of a stolen vehicle out of Pittsburg.
Deputies went and looked at several different possible areas trying to find the right location. On 12-14-2017, deputies believed they had found the right location.
Deputies from the sheriff's office, along with Pittsburg police, Frontenac police and Frontenac fire and rescue divers went to a pit located south of Mindenmines. At approximately 1:18 p.m. the vehicle was located in about 25 feet of water. The vehicle was recovered and towed from the scene. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
