Counselors to be available to help Carl Junction students deal with death of sixth grader

(From the Carl Junction School District)

It is with great sadness that we report that a Carl Junction sixth grade student passed away at home this evening. This tragedy is being investigated by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department and is in no way related to the illness outbreak at school today.

Out of respect to the family, we are not releasing the name of the student at this time. We will communicate more information in the coming days. We know that you join us in sending your sincere condolences to the family.

Counselors will be available to speak with our students tomorrow and Friday from 10am – Noon at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (Carl Junction Campus). The address of the church is 601 Well Street in Carl Junction.

Counselors will also be available at the Intermediate Building when we return to school on Monday to aid grieving students and staff members.
