K9 Belgon serves last shift with Joplin Police Department

This evening, K9 Belgon will be serving his last shift with our department. 

Belgon has been Officer Adam Brannin’s partner for almost 10 years, and is retiring due to age and physical ailments. 

He will continue to live with Officer Adam Brannin, enjoying his retirement. 

Belgon has been a huge asset to our department. Whether he was protecting his handler, or apprehending a suspect in the attic, he helped us do our jobs and took danger head on, on our behalf. 

Here are a few of Belgon’s accomplishments:

679 vehicle searches
Multiple tracks of suspects
12 suspect apprehensions
He Located the following:
3,099 grams of Marijuana
5,667 grams of meth
48 grams of powder cocaine
38 grams of crack cocaine
15 grams of heroin
24 grams of BTH
617 items of drug paraphernalia
Alerted to $106,787 in drug money
