(From the Crawford County Sheriff's Office)

On February 5, 2019 at approximately 10 pm, a Crawford County Deputy that is assigned as a School Resource Officer for USD 247 Southeast School District was contacted by a parent of a student that attends Southeast High School.

The parent stated that their child had received a threat toward Southeast High School through a group Snapchat with other students from Southeast High School.

The message stated that the student was going to shoot up the high school the following morning. Further investigation revealed that other Southeast students had also received the threat.

The student making the threat is a resident of Cherokee County and was taken into custody without incident by Deputies from the Crawford and Cherokee County Sheriff's Offices. The student was transported to Girard, and subsequently placed at the Juvenile Detention Center.

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office has requested the student be charged with making a criminal threat.
