Disaster simulation set for April 26 at MSSU

(From Southern News Service)

For a second consecutive year, a number of departments in the Julio S. León Health Sciences Building at Missouri Southern State University will take part in a disaster simulation exercise.

The all-day event – which will focus on the establishment of a triage in the event of a plant explosion - is planned for Friday, April 26, inside Health Sciences. It will involve students, faculty and staff from the Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, Radiology and EMS / Paramedic departments.

“We do this so our students can interact with each other and take care of patients just like they would in a hospital or out in the field,” said Caleb Lewis, MSSU Simulation Center Coordinator. “It’s just something that helps prepare them when it comes to their skills and teamwork.”
