Joplin Police Officer of the Month Jason Stump solved burglary case, obtained confession

On March 8, 2019 Cpl. Stump responded to a residence in reference to a past tense Burglary.

Cpl. Stump took photographs and collected any possible evidence from the scene. He maintained consistent contact with the victims who were able to provide him list of stolen items that totaled in excess of $45,000.

While investigating the first burglary, the victim reported a second one at the same address. Cpl. Stump utilized several resources including which eventually led to a suspect in this case. 








With the assistance of SIU, Cpl. Stump took the suspect into custody for the misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property. Cpl. Stump was able to obtain a confession from the suspect which led to him recovering a large majority of the property including pieces of a family heirloom grandfather clock. 

While the investigation is still on-going Cpl. Stump has gone above and beyond to ensure that the victims in this case were able to receive some closure. Cpl. Stump was also able to charge the suspect with 2nd Degree Burglary and Stealing.

This above case is just one example of Cpl. Stump's professionalism and work ethic. He is a true leader who holds himself and others around him to a high standard.
