Joplin Police Department arrests three for DWI, all attempt to flee

Over the course of the weekend, Joplin Police officers attempted to stop 4 drivers who fled in their vehicles. All four were arrested as follows.

On Friday, 4-26-19, at 9:21PM a detective observed a Black Pontiac westbound on C from Main. The driver was driving in a manner that the detective believed her to be impaired. The detective tried to stop the vehicle and it fled to F Street and Byers and the female driver and male passenger both fled on foot, running through yards.

The driver, Samantha M. McCrary, 24, Joplin (top photo) was arrested for DWI, Driving While Revoked and felony resisting. The male passenger was arrested on misdemeanor charges.

On Sunday, 4-28-19, at 3:50PM an officer tried to stop an erratically driven Ford Windstar near 7th and Connor. The vehicle fled and crashed into a fence at 3rd and Connor. 










The male driver exited the vehicle and fled into an apartment at 302 South Connor. He climbed into the attic to hide but fell through the ceiling. He was arrested for DWI, Resisting Arrest and Carless driving. He was identified as Matthew A. Painter, 42, Joplin.

On Sunday, 4-28-19, at 11:19PM an officer attempted to stop a Ford Edge in the area of 10th/Murphy, for suspected DWI. 

The vehicle fled, eventually stopping at 1510 S Connor. The female driving was arrested for DWI, Driving While Suspended and Felony Resisting Arrest. She was identified as Dawn L. Robinson, 48, Joplin.

On Monday, 4-29-19, at 01:38am, an officer attempted to stop a GMC Yukon for suspected DWI.








The driver fled in the vehicle from 21st/ Byers, ending in the east alley at 16th/ Pennsylvania where he was arrested for careless driving, resisting arrest and driving while revoked. He was identified as Jeffery L. Carter, 36, Carl Junction. (photo at left) He was not charged with DWI.
