Crowder to hold Nuts, Bolts and Things Manufacturing Camp

(From Crowder College)

Neosho, MO – Crowder College is hosting its second Camp AMPED this summer that is designed to help inspire the next generation of inventors, engineers, entrepreneurs and manufacturers. Camp AMPED is a technical, hands-on experience to introduce students to 21st-century manufacturing technology and basic entrepreneurial skills.

The camp is for girls and boys ages 14-16 and will take place June 17-21, 2019, in the Dell Reed Technical Education Center on the Neosho campus.

Students in the AMPED (Advanced Manufacturing Product Entrepreneurial Design) program will learn about the manufacturing process from start to finish and will be introduced to the world of entrepreneurship by allowing them to design and build a project from wood.

“This summer camp is a great opportunity for students to experience product design and manufacturing processes. Students will see design-build projects at local companies and then be able to apply those concepts to their own wood creations,” Dr. Melissa Oates, AMPED Summer Camp Coordinator.

The registration fee is $95 per student, which includes a camp t-shirt, instruction and materials, lunch, and transportation to field trips at Missouri Walnut, Twin Oaks and the Clay Cup. Due to the hands-on nature of the program, space is limited. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Please register at: https://www.crowder.edu/grants/amped-camp/

This camp is part of a national program developed by Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs®, the Foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association.
