Busy times for Seneca Police include meth arrests, man arrested on Jasper County warrants

On 4/17/19, Officer Thiel initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation. The vehicle failed to yield and accelerated speeds. A pursuit began.

They went North on Hwy 43, West on Douglas Fir Road. The pursuit was terminated at Douglas Fir Road and the Outer Road. 

The car pulled into a driveway and stopped. A male subject exited the driver’s seat and fled. A female passenger opened the door and got out with her hands up. 

The female wouldn’t give up the name of the driver. A search of the car recovered a baggie of methamphetamine, two pills (Hydrocodone), a yellow pill (Clonazepam), and a syringe that field tested positive for Methamphetamine. The female passenger was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance and Obstruction then transported to Newton County Jail.

On 4/17/19, Chief Altic received a call from Gas-N-Snack in reference to two subjects in a red Dodge Challenger attempting to give them a credit card number to process and pay for gas. 

Officers located the car at G&W Foods. The male subject, Nathan Sharp, ended up having a felony warrant out of Lawrence County for: Assault 2nd Degree. Sharp was arrested and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 4/15/19, Officer Fort initiated a traffic stop. The male driver was arrested for DWR and was cited for: DWR, No Insurance, and Improper Registration then transported to Newton County Jail.

On 4/14/19, Officer Housley initiated a traffic stop for several equipment violations. The male driver was arrested for DWR and transported to Newton County Jail.

On 4/13/19, Officer Housley initiated a traffic stop for moving violations. The driver identified himself as Jerry Short. Short was arrested on four Jasper County warrants for: FTA C&I Driving, FTA Improper Registration, FTA Resisting Arrest, and FTA Resisting an Officer. Short was transported to Newton County Jail.

On 4/5/19, Officer Housley initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The passenger Jennifer Bosarge was arrested for: No bond probation violation warrant out of Mississippi Department of Corrections and transported to Newton County Jail.
