Voices from Missouri Southern’s Choral Department will fill St. Mary’s Catholic Church during the annual Spring Choral Concert, set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2.
Members of the 1962 MSSU choir – who performed that year in Washington, D.C. - will be honored for their gift to this year’s group of singers, who will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June.
“We are delighted to honor the choral class of singers from 1962,” said Dr. David Sharlow, director of choral music at MSSU. “This group passes the torch to our 2019 singers who will be traveling to New York City with a financial gift to offset the cost of our students.”
“We will also recognize the recipient of the Oliver and Roberta Sovereign Music Scholarship, established for a choral music education major,” added Sharlow. “It is a wonderful moment to connect our rich heritage with the great things happening with our students.”
People planning to attend are asked to RSVP. They can do so by contacting the Missouri Southern Alumni Association at (417) 659-5466.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church is located at 32nd Street and Central City Road in Joplin.
