Smart Cities initiative focus of Joplin Newsmakers program

An upcoming Newsmakers program focuses on the Smart Cities initiative that is being discussed at various public meetings.

Host Judy Stiles talks with Patty Heagel, Assistant Director of Planning, Community Development and Neighborhood Services, to learn the numerous ways a community can create efficiencies through technology and planning.

The interview will air on KGCS-TV throughout the week of April 29 at 5:30 p.m., as well as a 9:30 p.m. broadcast on April 29.

Open House meetings are also planned about Smart Cities on Tuesday, April 30 at Bookhouse Cinema; and on Thursday, May 2 at Irving Elementary. Both are scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Newsmakers is produced by KGCS-TV, a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University. Programming may be seen over-the-air on digital channel 22 and on regional cable television systems, including Cable One, Mediacom and Suddenlink.
