A public meeting for the 44th Street widening project has been scheduled for area property owners and the public to learn more about the project and meet representatives of D&E Plumbing Company, the construction contractor for the project. Representatives of George Butler and Associates Inc, (GBA), the design engineers for the project, will also be attending.
The meeting will be 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, at Christ Community United Methodist Church located at 2700 E 44th Street.
The project will widen 44th Street, from Connecticut Avenue east to Range Line Road, and Connecticut Avenue from the bridge over Interstate 44, south to 44th Street.
The design is for a five-lane road, with a sidewalk and shared use path, as well as a roundabout at the intersection of 44th and Connecticut Avenue. It is being funded through the 3/8 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax approved by voters in 2014.
The engineering consultant will be available with the final design plans and to address any questions. D&E Plumbing Company representatives will provide information regarding the construction schedule, plans for traffic control during the project, and to answer other questions about the project.
For more information, call 417-624-0820, ext. 536.

I sure hope they aren't going to have it detouring at the same time MODOT is working 32nd street.
ReplyDeleteBut I wouldn't be surprised. I think the new welcome to Joplin sign should be made out of 'road work ahead' signs.
