The Oronogo Police Department, with the help of the Alliance of Southwest Missouri, has installed a prescription drop-off box in the police department lobby.
Prescription medications can be dropped off 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to include weekends and holiday. The Oronogo Police Department Drug Take-Back Initiative aims to provide a safe and convenient way for both residents and non-residents to dispose of expired, unwanted, or unused medications.
The Oronogo Police Department will begin participating in the National Drug Take-Back days coordinated with the Drug Enforcement Agency. These dates are determined by the DEA, however, typically are held in the Spring and Fall.

What We Can and Cannot Accept:
Medications may include both prescription and non-prescription types.
1. No needles may be accepted.
2. No inhalers may be accepted.
3. Pre-loaded syringes are OK as long as the needle has been removed.
4. Eli-pens are accepted.
5. Pet Medication are accepted.
When your medicines are no longer needed, they should be disposed of promptly. Consumers and caregivers should remove expired, unwanted, or unused medicines from their home as quickly as possible to help reduce the chance that others accidentally take or intentionally misuse the unneeded medicine, and to help reduce drugs from entering the environment.
Christopher M. Carriger, Chief of Police, Oronogo PD
