Seneca Police Department deals with road rage, alcohol sales to minors, makes arrest on meth warrant

On 9/21/19 the Seneca Police Department conducted an alcohol compliance check at Big Daddy’s.

The Police Department had received information from a concerned parent that alcohol had been sold to a minor. 

The Seneca Police Department had a juvenile attempt to purchase alcohol from the clerk. The clerk indeed sold alcohol to our minor. The clerk was cited for selling alcohol to a minor.

On 9/22/19, Officer Thiel made a traffic stop at Hwy 43/Avalon for an equipment violation. 

The driver, John Dean had two warrants out of Joplin for: Driving without Financial Responsibility and DWS. Dean was arrested and cited for: DWS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Dean was transported to the Joplin City Jail.

9/15/19, Officer Thiel was dispatched to Big Daddy’s in reference to a possible road rage incident. 

As Officer Thiel arrived at the location, he observed a vehicle matching the description leave at a high rate of speed. Officer Thiel attempted to stop the vehicle. 

The vehicle failed to stop for Officer Thiel. A pursuit was initiated and continued into Oklahoma. Once in Oklahoma the driver went through two fences and was eventually taken into custody. The driver was charged with: DWI, Resisting Arrest, and Failed to Yield to Emergency Vehicle. The subject was transported to Ottawa County Jail.

On 9/14/19, Officer Kirby made a traffic stop at Cherokee/Ottawa for a moving violation. 

The driver, Mallori Phillips was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Cherokee County for: FTA Possession of Methamphetamine. Phillips was transported to Newton County Jail.

On 9/13/19, Officer Kirby made a traffic stop at Hwy 43/Hwy 60 for an equipment violation. 

The driver, Shawn Candelaria was arrested on three warrants. Two warrants out of Neosho for: FTA Failure to Register Motor Vehicle and FTA Operating a Vehicle without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. One warrant out of Wheaton for: FTA Driving While Revoked. Candelaria was transported to Newton County Jail.
