According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Sydni K. Pogue, 18, Goodman, was overtaking another vehicle and struck Pierre M. McWhirter, 26, no address given, who was walking in the northbound lane.
McDonald County Coroner B. J. Goodwin pronounced McWhirter dead at the scene at 10:51 p.m.
The fatality was the 83rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
