Spencer-Bartlett award recipients announced at Missouri Southern

Four seniors from Missouri Southern State University have been recognized as recipients of the annual Spencer-Bartlett Respect Awards.

The monetary awards are given each year in memory of Anne and Charles Bartlett, and Vera and Spencer Bartlett.








“Since 1970, the Spencer-Bartlett Respect Awards have been given to Missouri Southern students who have shown the greatest respect for God, the United States of America and their fellow man,” said Dr. Julie Wengert, Dean of Student Success and Interim Vice President of Student Affairs. “Recipients must also be a May graduate maintaining above average grades.”

The recipients are nominated by a faculty/staff member and must submit an essay outlining their views and values. An equal number of awards are given to male and female recipients.

This year there were four award recipients – two for first place and two for second. First-place recipients receive $2,500, while $2,000 is awarded for second place.

First place:

Lynna Hadlock, a CIS major from Miller, Mo.

Cade Winfrey, a Biology/Pre-med major from Lebanon, Mo.

Second place:

Alexandra Rodriguez, a K-12 Physical Education major from Hutchinson, Kan.

Shemar Coleman, a Health Promotion and Wellness major from Denton, Texas.
