Jasper Police traffic stop leads to meth arrest

On Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 at 1:10 pm, a Jasper PD officer initiated a traffic stop on the southbound on ramp to I-49, on a red Ford Fusion.
 
Contact was made with the driver, John Street (Van Buren, Arkansas). Street was taken into custody for driving while suspended.







 
A search of the vehicle was conducted. The following was located in a book bag lying on the front passenger seat:

*Plastic baggy containing about 10 grams of a white crystal substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine.
 
*Glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.
 
*Unmarked medicine bottle containing adderal.
 
After being read his Miranda warning and questioned, Street admitted to knowing and possessing the methamphetamine, but claimed he was holding it for a friend.
 
Street was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended. Note: He is innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
