Joplin man cited for DWI following injury crash near Mount Vernon

A Joplin man was cited for driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle injury accident 7:54 p.m. Thursday on MO 97, 10 miles northwest of Mount Vernon.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Ford F150 driven by Dustin A. James, 50, Joplin, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

James, who was treated for serious injuries at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage, was also cited for failing to drive on the right half of the roadway and for not wearing a seat belt.
