(From the Jasper County Sheriff's Office)On May 29, 2021, Sgt. Chris Calvin responded to a call for service in reference to a disturbance on I-44 near Sarcoxie.
Sgt. Calvin made contact with a female who was experiencing a mental health crisis, acting erratic and refusing to speak with him. The female turned and suddenly ran into oncoming traffic.
Sgt. Calvin, at great personal risk to himself, was able to get ahold of her and remove her from the path of oncoming traffic.
For Sgt. Calvin’s actions that day he was awarded the Sheriff’s Office Medal of Valor.
Thank you Sgt Calvin, for making the best of a bad situation.
