Carthage schools go on lockdown after incident involving weapon occurs in vicinity

Around 1:15 P.M. Tuesday, the Police Department requested a lockdown of Steadley Elementary and the Carthage Intermediate Center. 

There was an incident, allegedly involving a weapon, a few miles away from the two schools. 

The subject involved left the area toward the direction of the schools. The lockdown was solely precautionary to ensure the safety of students and staff.
