Newsmakers program features cannabis industry

(From Southern News Service)

The cannabis industry has become a significant catalyst for job creation. According to a 2022 Jobs Report by Leafly.com, a cannabis investor group, there are now 428-thousand full-time jobs in the cannabis industry.

Brandon Olson, Missouri Made Marijuana store manager, explains how the marijuana industry in Missouri is growing at the fastest rate of any other industry and how skills from every area of study can translate to the cannabis business.

“I received a news release from Tulsa Community College about a new certification program they started, to offer specialized training for cannabis jobs,” said Bobbie Pottorff, Newsmakers host and KGCS-TV general manager. “That really piqued my interest about how fast the industry was growing and what job possibilities were out there.”

The show will begin airing nightly at 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. the week of March 27, and at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel – KGCS Missouri Southern.

KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
