On March 19, 2022 at 2317 hours a Joplin Police Officer contacted three people in the west alley at 9th and Connor.
During the contact, a male fled on foot and officers pursued on foot.
An assault occurred against an officer at 10 and Chestnut by the suspect, and an officer discharged his firearm striking the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. The officer was treated and released. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was requested to investigate the incident.
