Barton County Sheriff's Office arrests rural Lamar sex offender on sodomy, failure to register charges

On May 20th, 2024 Deputies with the Barton County Sheriff's Office and Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant at the address of 596 NE 5th Ln. Lamar, Mo in reference to a registered sex offender failing to register all of their information with the Sheriff’s Office. 

During this investigation it was learned the offender had social media accounts that also were not registered with the Sheriff’s Office.
 







At approximately 0700hrs Deputies arrived on scene and detained one male who was the suspect in the investigation. He was interviewed and arrested on scene. A Deputy transported him to the Barton County Jail where he was processed and is being held on a 24hr hold for investigation.
 
The Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as Marck Jackson (63) of Lamar. At this time the Sheriff’s Office is working with Cyber Crimes on this investigation and it is presumed that there will be more charges in the near future.







 
The Sheriff’s Office has submitted the following alleged charges to the Barton County Prosecutor’s Office.
 
1. Fail to Register as a Sex Offender 2nd Offense
2. Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy- 1st Degree

These charges are merely and accusation and should be treated as such until proven guilty in a court of law.
