President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a famous, five-star general who became synonymous with the defeat of Germany in World War II. Both political parties and the public wanted him to run for the office of president.
Dr. Steven Wagner writes about this and numerous events during Eisenhower’s life and career that were marked by judgment that sought balance in his new book, Eisenhower for Our Time. Wagner, a professor of History at Missouri Southern State University discusses his book on the next Newsmakers.
Wagner shares his writing process for this book which is his second about President Eisenhower. He also discusses how writing about history has impacted how he teaches his classes. Students reacted to the news of having a published author as an instructor. The book is part of a series that features individuals whose lives offer lessons in current society and politics.
