(From the Newton County Sheriff's Office)On 06/01/2024 at 9:50PM, Newton County Central Dispatch Center received a call from an individual stating he had shot his wife multiple times, and she was deceased. The caller also stated he was going to shoot himself.
Patrol units were dispatched to 206 Clark Road in Redings Mill. Newton County Special Response Team arrived and made entry into the residence and found a 65-year-old female, later identified as Vicki Clanton, deceased on the floor with what appeared to be multiple gunshots.
A 62-year-old male, later identified as William Clanton, was found on the floor deceased with what appeared to be a single fatal gunshot.
Newton County detectives processed the scene and through the course of the investigation it was determined that William Clanton shot and killed Vicki Clanton, William Clanton then committed suicide.
