More than 50 volunteer at MSSU MLK Day of Service

More than 50 people participated in the Martin Luther King Day of Service today at Missouri Southern State University.

From KOAM reporter Cailey Dougherty's story:

Freshmen Aubrie Hirsch and Ronise Miller are just two of the many volunteers who spent the day serving.

"Even doing these small things really helps out the community," Hirsch said.

"I think it's good because Martin Luther King, Jr. did a lot of good things for his community, so it's good for us to do something for Joplin," Miller said.

While Miller and Hirsch helped make supplies at Art Feeds, others helped clean out files at the Joplin Community Clinic, or assisted with projects at the Rapha House.

Another group worked on yard cleanup at Camp Mintahama.

Other volunteer sites included Joplin NALA Read, God's Resort and Hospice Compassus.
