(From the City of Joplin)
Joplin Public Works Director Nick Heathery has recently announced Dan Salisbury as the Assistant Director of Public Works- Engineering.
Prior to joining the City, he worked 37 years for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) prior to coming to the City. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Rolla (now Missouri S & T) with a degree in Civil Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
“Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization,” said Heatherly. “I believe he will be a valued asset to one of the best public works organizations in the country.”
Salisbury’s career with MoDOT took him to the Central Office twice, the Northwest District, and the Central District before coming to MoDOT’s Joplin office as Assistant District Engineer in 1996. Salisbury oversaw all planning, design, land acquisition and construction for projects in MoDOT’s Southwest District which now spans 21 counties.
During his leadership with MoDOT, the agency was noted for their roadways being in the best condition as well as the best on time and under budget performance for projects in the state for more than the last decade. He also implemented an approach to public involvement that resulted in a high rate of acceptance of controversial projects by those citizens most impacted.
Salisbury and his wife, Kathy, have two sons, Adam and Ryan. Adam is an Interventional Cardiologist for St. Luke’s hospital in Kansas City, and Ryan is an electrical engineer in Huntsville, AL. They also have three grandkids.
Up North they call this double dipping...Wonder why there is no jobs for younger folks...
