JPD seizes 44 pounds of marijuana, arrest made at Greyhound station

On April 15, 2015 at 5:56 AM, the Joplin Police Department conducted a routine safety check at the Greyhound Bus Station, 217 W. 2nd St.

During the safety check, officers noticed a suspicious passenger and determined that he did not possess a bus ticket. He was ultimately identified as Joseph Guzman, 21, Dallas Texas.

Further investigation disclosed that Guzman was the possessor of a piece of luggage that had gone unclaimed by any passenger. K-9 Keta indicated that there was the presence of illegal substances within the bag. A search of the bag revealed three bundles of marijuana in the suitcase. Collectively the bundles weighed forty-four pounds.

Guzman was arrested for Theft of Services for failing to purchase a bus ticket and he was arrested for Trafficking First Degree.
