A Mt. Vernon man was killed in a two-vehicle accident 8:15 p.m. Saturday on Route HH, three miles west of Carthage.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Buick Park Avenue driven by Joshua D. May, 42, Mt. Vernon, struck a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Shaleen M. Blair, 19, Carthage, head on.
May was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:24 p.m. by Jasper County Deputy Coroner George Woodward. Blair was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
The fatality was the 27th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
