Jasper man arrested for DWI, assault after three injured in head-on crash

A Jasper man was charged with driving while intoxicated and assault following a two-vehicle collision in which three people were injured 12:55 p.m. today on Highway 160 in Lamar Heights.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1997 Ford F-150 driven by Dennis J. Kersey, 53, Jasper, entered Highway 160 from a private drive and struck a 2013 Kia driven by Jolene L. Mayfield, 41, St. Louis, head-on.

Mayfield and Kersey were treated for moderate injuries at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar. A passenger in the Mayfield vehicle, Jane E. Mayfield, 82, Lamar, was taken to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, with serious injuries.

In addition to DWI and assault, Kersey was charged with careless and imprudent driving.
