Sarcoxie woman charged with DWI following two-vehicle accident near Carthage

A Sarcoxie woman was charged with driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle accident 6:30 p.m. Thursday on Garrison Avenue, three miles south of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Cheye Violet Richards, 27, Sarcoxie, failed to stop for a stop sign and struck the side of a 2009 GMC truck driven by Cory C. Schultz, 29, Joplin.

Richards was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage. A passenger in the Schultz vehicle, David R. Pritchard, 62, Carthage, was also treated for moderate injuries at Mercy McCune-Brooks.

In addition to DWI, Richards was cited for felony second degree assault and failing to stop for a stop sign.
