Fifth grade DARE graduation held at Sarcoxie

(From the Jasper County Sheriff's Office)

On May 4th, 2016, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office conducted the annual 5th Grade D.A.R.E. Graduation at the Sarcoxie Wildwood Elementary School. In attendance as a guest speaker was Chief Deputy Derek Walrod who spoke to the graduates about the importance of the D.A.R.E. program and how it is used to be a positive influence for them, and their lives. Several other employees of the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Sarcoxie School Personnel, Sarcoxie Police Chief, Chris Marbut, parents and family members were present for the graduation.

Corporal Matt Terry (School Resource Officer / D.A.R.E. Instructor) along with Chief Deputy Walrod presented a total of 60 graduates with D.A.R.E. completion certificates. One student from each class was chosen as the D.A.R.E. essay winner, and we are very proud of the hard work from all of the graduates. We would also like to thank the 5th Grade teachers (Jamie Medlin, Kim Hill and Brennah Hansen) and the Sarcoxie School Administration for assisting us in making this program effective and successful.

Way to go D.A.R.E. graduates, you should be proud of your accomplishment.
