Oronogo man arrested on federal warrant for meth conspiracy

On 3/8/17 at approximately 0730 hours members of the CNET Drug Task Force, Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, Bates County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, El Dorado Springs Police Department, agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency and the United States Marshals Office executed a narcotics related search warrant on a residence just outside the city limits of El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

The residence had been the subject of a narcotics investigation by CNET Drug Taskforce, Cedar County Sheriff’s Office and El Dorado Springs Police Department. The residence was occupied by one subject who was taken into custody without incident. That subject was identified as Bobby Keith, W/M DOB 9/19/57, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri. During the search agents recovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The residence in Cedar County was also a known location of a wanted fugitive that the CNET Drug Taskforce and Cedar County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating for drug trafficking for over the last year. Kenneth Bryant Lake, W/M DOB 4/19/1961 of Oronogo, Missouri, was federally indicted by a grand jury for conspiring and or distributing 500 grams or more of a substance that contained methamphetamine and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest on May 21, 2016. While agents served the search warrant at the residence in Cedar County additional agents was conducting surveillance at a second location in Barton County that was also known to be a place that Kenneth Lake may be living at. Kenneth Lake had been the subject of multiple drug investigation search warrants in numerous counties and attempts to take him into custody over the last year.

At approximately 1515 hours surveillance teams identified a male subject standing in the front yard of a residence in the rural Southwest Corner of Barton County in the area east of Nashville, Missouri just off of 43 Highway. The man was identified as Kenneth Lake the wanted federal fugitive. Law enforcement from the above agencies, Barton County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol converged onto the residence and after a short foot pursuit took Lake into custody without any further incident.

A search warrant for the residence was obtained and executed around 1730 hrs and approximately three ounces of methamphetamine and approximately $3,000 in cash were seized along with property associated with Lake and narcotics transactions. 

 A second 37 year of age white female was detained after being found hiding in a dog house on the property and was transported to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office for Harboring a Fugitive. She was later released pending lab reports of the substances found in the home. 

 Reports will be sent to the Barton County Prosecuting attorney, Steven Kaderly for consideration in filing of formal criminal charges. Lake was transported to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office where on Thursday was turned over to the United States Marshal Service.
