The MSSU Choral Society, under the direction of Dr. Susan K. Smith, will present its annual Christmas Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2423 W. 25th St.
The program will feature Handel’s “Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord,” and “The Nutcracker Jingles,” arranged by Chuck Bridewell. Other selections will include “Joy Arising,” “Your Light Has Come,” “A Celtic Cradle Carol” and “Alleluia! Christ is Born!”
The concert is free and open to the public.
Participants in the 58-member choir come from all parts of the community and represent various age groups.
Spring rehearsals for the annual Broadway and Pops Concert begin Monday, Jan. 15, in Room 208 of the Music Building on the Missouri Southern campus. The spring concert is scheduled for May 6.
The cost to take part is $30 for the semester. Although there is no audition to join the ensemble, it is hoped members will have had some experience singing in a choir. An ability to read music is desirable, but is not a prerequisite. Sign-up forms will be available the day of the performance.
