Threats against Royal Heights Elementary on national website traced to Arkansas juveniles

(From the Joplin Police Department)

On Sunday, December 3, 2017 at about 7:30 p.m the Joplin Police Department received a couple of reports of an online thread containing threats against Royal Heights Elementary School in Joplin.

The threats of violence were posted on a national blog website where people post about random topics. The people that alerted us to the post live in other parts of the country and had seen the post, which was taken down shortly after.

An investigation began into the post and extra officers were at schools Monday morning to be seen and ensure safety of children and staff.

Monday, December 4, 2017 the investigation led to two juveniles in Northwest, Arkansas who made the post. No actual threat was substantiated and the two were referred to juvenile authorities in their jurisdiction.
