Harry Potter Book Night celebration scheduled at Joplin Public Library

(From the Joplin Public Library)

Joplin Public Library (JPL) will host a celebration of all things Harry Potter on Friday, February 2. The festivities will commence in the Children’s Department promptly at 4:30 pm and the magic will end at 5:30 pm.

Young wizards and witches in grades of Kindergarten to 5th grade are invited to attend and may dress in costume if they so choose. Muggles are also invited to attend as JPL is a modern library that welcomes all!

Several activities are planned for this themed event. A house sorting will take place, Madam Rosemerta of the Three Broomsticks will be serving cookies, popcorn, and butterbeer, and Ollivanders will hold a wand-making workshop.

Families are advised that a group of rabble-rousers have been trying to free House Elves by giving away socks! If you see this group at the library, stay clear! They will likely try to get you to make a sock with them!

Lastly, our Care of Magical Creatures teacher keeps leaving cages open. Guests are requested to help with a Scavenger Hunt to find them all so we can round them up. To thank you for your help, JPL will provide Pigmy Puffs and Bowtruckles to each participant, along with information about their care and maintenance.

Before you go, make sure to take your picture at Platform 9 ¾ and post it to social media with the tag #HP@JPL !
